Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Well, my tonsils have always been very large. As a child and young adult and even once or twice a year now I will get strep throat. For the last few years though I ve noticed a large almost flat circle sticking out behind my tonsils, the right side much larger than the left. I often feel like my glands are swollen and my ears and throat kinda bother me. Should I be worried? I was diagnosed with Breast cancer last year and I do have the BRCA1 genetic mutation.
Breast cancer is unlikely to cause an enlarged tonsil. Enlarged tonsils can occur due to infection or inflammation of the throat. I suggest you get a clinical assessment by an NT specialist.
Regarding BRCA mutation, you need to get investigations for BRCA gene.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
