What Causes Swollen Neck Glands And Redness At The Back Of Throat?
Hi, Yesterday I woke up with my glands in my neck swollen. It does not hurt to touch them. I looked in my mouth and the back of my throat is red but nothing else is red. There is no spots or anything like that. It only hurts when I swallow. I'm also losing my voice at times. Hot or cold drinks and food hurt the same. I'm not running any fever not even a low grade. I don't have any other symptoms. Can you please tell me what I have?
You must always mention your age and sex. Considering your history I would suggest you should get an FNAC (Fine needle aspiration cytology) done at a good centre.
For the time being as a symptomatic treatment : 1) Betadine Gargles
It is likely that you have an early viral upper respiratory tract infection. It would cause the sore throat and would also cause the lymph nodes in the neck to respond to the infection.
Lymph nodes can sometimes take a few weeks (4 to 6) to decrease after an infection resolves so the swelling may persist even when you have recovered.
The use of oral anti inflammatory pain medications such as naproxen, cataflam, aspirin, ibuprofen would help. In addition there are oral gargles and sprays that would help eg chloroseptic, bethadine, diflam.
I hope this helps
