My shin is numb and it is swollen. It hurts to touch is some places and I do not recall hurting it. It does not really bother me but it has been this way for a week. I am physically active including weight lifting and playing basketball. Any ideas what might be causing it?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swollen, numb and painful shin . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query soft tissue injury , haematoma and chance of fracture are very less . There is also a chance of nerve compression or nerve injury . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order X-ray , CT scan or physical examination . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory and vitamin supplement for quick recovery and physical therapy . For now apply ice for 10 mins daily , take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and elevate your leg while lying down to reduce the inflammation .
