Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swollen Pain To The Left Of Labia Majora?
I had an infected bartholin gland removed 8 years ago. The same site-left labia majora--is now appearing swollen with some pain and looking similar to the gland infection that led to the surgery. I assumed that once the gland was removed, I d never have any issue with swelling. The right side is normal. Help! what could be going on?
As per my clinical experience, the pain with swelling over left of labia majora with past history of Bartholin's cyst surgery indicates current problem with recurrence of the Bartholin's cyst at this point of time.
Though not common, it is also not uncommon for a lady to have recurrence of Bartholin's cyst over a period of time ranging from months to years following previous surgical excision. After clinical and radiological confirmation of the diagnosis, you must require revision surgery after discussing the pros and cons of the procedure.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
