What Causes Swollen Painful Vein On Wrist?

Hi i was cleaning the shower base when i felt a sharp pinch on my wrist - when i looked there is a swelling to the main vein. Although its not very painful if i extend my wrist i can feel it and there is a slight throbbing - what do you think it is?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Painful and throbbing swelling is most commonly caused due to pus collection.
Throbbing can occur due to some disease process in the vein also.
Some investigations are required to assess the nature of the swelling.
However, a clinical assessment is required to decide the investigations.
If a lesion is suspected in the veins, Doppler study will help.
Thus, consult your primary health care provider for further work up.
