What Causes Swollen Right Leg In A Fibromyalgia Patient?

Hello I have a slightly swollen lower right leg. It is not painful until you touch the inside from the calf down. Not the back of the leg. Sort of between the inside and the back of the calf. Sorry I can t be more clearer. I do have fibromyalgia but I hate to say everything is fibromyalgia.

Hi,

I can understand that you would like to say this to be due to fibromyalgia, but the area that you have indicated is a part of the muscle and tendon complex and thus can be due to fibromyalgia.
Other causes can be a clot in the vein or development of some infection or so.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a case to know the exact diagnosis.
First of all, get a clinical examination done by your Doctor.
High resolution ultrasonography and MRI will help further.
If this is due to a specific cause it needs to be treated as per the findings.
If this is fibromyalgia then the treatment that you must be taking to be continued.
Control of stress and anxiety is the key of successful treatment for fibromyalgia.
Short tapering course of steroids, anti-inflammatory medications can help you a lot.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
