Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
In the past month have had salivary swelling and related it Lialda. It has subsided somewhat now I have this dry meaning non productive cough when I turn to my left side, bend over or do not sit straight. Can this be related to taking too much Lialda (Rx says 2 per day in am) my Crohns seemed to be under control with one per day
Lialda contains active ingredient Mesalamine that is used to reduce inflammatory conditions.
Swollen salivary glands and cough can be side effects of Meselamine and more the dose you take the severe can be the symptoms..
So in case if it is mandatory to take Lialda then the minimum possible dose should be taken..
It is better to consult your Physician and if your disease is well controlled with a single dose then yes, you should not take too much of the medication to reduce the severity of side effects.
But do not reduce the dose on your own as it can exaggerate your disease and do only under your Physician's supervision..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
