Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swollen Scrotum Long After Hernia Repair?
I had surgery to repair a hernia 8 months ago and I still have a very swollen scrotum. In the past few days I have had intermittent pain in my scrotum/testis and I have developed a sore throat/ears/headache/temperature - I am assuming it is just some sort of viral infection but could they be related?
The swelling involving scrotum at a period of 8 months does not sound related to upper respiratory viral infection. It is the residual. Tissue edema which many times persists after surgical dissection of soft tissue structures. Kindly get an ultrasound examination of the inguinal and scrotal region for the final diagnosis and cure accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
