What Causes Swollen Taste Buds After Swallowing Ocean Water?
After swallowing ocean water I have felt like something is on the back of my throat for 2 weeks... I finally noticed one of my larger taste buds on back of tongue looks bigger than normal and I'm thinking this is giving me the sensation of something there... what can I do its driving me crazy. Trying to swallow or clear throat constantly!
As per your query you have swollen taste buds after swallowing ocean water . There can be many reasons for swollen taste buds like hot food , alcohol , smoking , infection , allergy , vitamin B and C deficiency and acid reflux . But in your case it seems to me that the swollen taste buds are either due to allergic reaction from sea water or infection caused by seas water . I would suggest you to do warm saline rinses several times a day , do betadine rinses twice a day , maintain proper oral hygiene , take benadryl twice a day and avoid hot and spicy food . If condition doesn't get better in few days then consult oral pathologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory drug . Apply orabase gel for pain .
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
