What Causes Swollen Thighs And Bloating Of Stomach Despite Having Fibromyalgia?
Hi, I just joined the forum. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in August 2014. I operate my own cleaning business, follow a well balanced diet, and exercise daily - either walking or aerobics. In the last year I have gained 15 pounds. Most nights my thighs are swollen and my belly is bloated. Quite often I measure in the morning and in the evening I am up to 2 inches larger in both areas. Could this be fluid retention. I am extremely frustrated because nothing seems to be helping to take this extra weight off.
Since you have fibromyalgia you may also develop digestive issues like constipation, diarrhea, IBS, etc. Swollen thigh can be due to stress, and deep vein thrombosis. Generalized swelling may also be a symptom. It occurs due to water retention, reduce the amount of salt intake. Cut on smoking it will affect blood circulation and clotting. If obese reduce your weight, obesity increases the pressure in the veins causing leakage and fluid build up.
Cut on salty food, carbohydrate, full fat dairy products, oily spicy fried food, sweet desserts, red meat, trans fat, etc. Take home made boiled food rich in minerals and vitamin. Add berries, fruits, dry fruits and well cooked whole grains in your diet. Do regular exercises, walking to help better circulation. To get relief, you can take antacids or PPIs. Get clinically examined by a GP. Get all the required tests and investigations done so that treatment can be started at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
