General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the swollen tonsils with lymph nodes enlargement do indicate underlying bacterial infection. As the intensity of symptoms are severe, there can be atypical organism causing pneumonia or other lower respiratory tract infections. It is best recommended to consult in ER for immediate X-ray evaluation and further management with possible need of oxygen, intravenous antibiotics and supportive care.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
