Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My lip has swollen for no reason? I came to work, was sitting here and it started to swell, now at 2p.m. it s humoungous!!! all I ate was a cupcake and a glass of coca cola. and I don t how I could have been bitten by anything just sitting here. It s the upper left side if my lip?
As per your complain sudden swelling of your upper lip can be due to Allergic Angioedema of lip and it seems to be due to allergic reaction to some allergen like any bug bite or any food or medicine..
You can take a course of anti-allergics like benadryl or allegra or levocetrizine, keep doing cool compresses and also take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
In case if there is no improvement or there are recurring episodes you can consult an Allergist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and allergic testing like RAST test or food challenge test can help in ruling out the exact cause of allergic reaction and treatment can be planned accordingly..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
