What Causes Swollen Veins In Hands And Wrists During Pregnancy?
Hello,
My veins in my hands and wrists have looked very puffy and full as of late. I am now 33 weeks pregnant and I was wondering if this had anything to do with the fact that my blood volume has increased, or am I possibly dehydrated? Or is it possibly something else that I just don't know about? Thanks.
Veins getting engorged is normal in pregnancy. It certainly does not mean that you are dehydrated. In dehydration, veins would go smaller and be less visible. In pregnancy there is an increase of blood volume and a small amount of venous stasis because of the pressure of the pregnant uterus on the big veins like inferior vena cava but this usually affects the veins in the legs. Anyway you can be assured that this is nothing serious. You have nothing to worry with engorged veins. Take care. Hope this helped you a lot.
