What Causes Taste Of Blood In The Back Of The Throat?

Sometimes I get the taste of blood in the back of my throat and on a more rare occasion I ll burp and taste a bit of blood or it may be iron. I had nosebleeds a lot when I was young but not so much now. Sometimes I get the taste from strenuous activity, sometimes from nothing at all. What could be the problem?

My thoughts and suggestions are as below. You already have a history of nose bleed in past hence the obvious cause looks to be the post nasal small amount of bleed that is giving you the taste of blood in back of throat. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult an ENT Surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination and ENT Endoscopy, CT scan or MRI of the nose to get the exact cause. If the bleeding is from a point it will be cauterized. With the advent of new machines and procedures it is possible to stop the bleeding from nose permanently. So go ahead and get the things done to get a cure.
