What Causes Temporary Pain In Left Leg And Buttock While Doing Regular Activities?

When standing for 10-15 minutes in one place, walking for a few miles or playing golf a develop severe pain in my lower left leg and upper left buttock. Pain goes away when I am sitting or laying down but is still there when I walk again. Usually take Advil and the pain is usually gone in the morning. Pain comes back when I continue above activities.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have temporary pain in left leg and buttock while doing regular activities . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons , but in your case t seems to me that the symptoms are due to Sciatica . Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve becomes pinched, usually by a herniated disk in your spine or by an overgrowth of bone . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor will take history and order CT scan, x-ray and MRI . Doctor may prescribe anti-inflammatory , muscle relaxants and tricyclic antidepressants . Doctor may also recommend physical therapy or steroid injection . For now apply warm compresses to lower back , buttocks and leg and take proper rest .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
