What Causes Temporary Paralysis In The Wrists, Hands And Fingers?

My daughter, who lives in Colorado, felt sick with the flu. She went to the hospital and received a shot to help her feel better, caused a temporary paralysis in her wrists, hands and fingers for approximately 5 minutes. Is this serious and what would cause it and could the paralisis return unexpectedly?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

The transient weakness may be due to radial nerve compression while sleeping on chair lead to wrist drop or compression at the wrist lead to wrist drop etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Get it done nerve conduction study or use tablet vitamin B12.

Please consult your neuro physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
