Hi, I m a 33 y.o. female who had a kidney transplant 15 yrs ago. I went to the ER a few days ago b/c I woke up a protrusion behind my right ear and felt tenderness. The dr. diagnosed me with a swollen lymph node. However, I do not have signs of an infection (no fever, redness, etc). Now that area feels a little numb. Is this normal? (FYI, I am on immunosuppresants.)
The symptoms seem to be related to a reactive lymph node. The reactive lymph node is commonly related to an infection in the system. I suggest to check the ear for an ear infection at an ENT specialist. I also suggest to check the dentures for an infection. Meanwhile,I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
