What Causes Tenderness And Pain Behind The Head In A Diabetes Patient?

I have tenderness/headache at the top back of my head. It is not ongoing, but a sudden, sharp pain. that comes on like a muscle contracting/tightening. I am diabetic. Do you think there is a connection. When I put symptons on Web MD I am being asked if I think a sinus infection. Sorry...I am not going to pay. I will take another ibuprophen and see my doctor next week. The need for payment should have opened the questioning.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I suspect Occipital Neuralgia which, in this case, may be caused by Diabetes. Although, I would not take any chance. So, I would like to give some tests:

1. Head CT
2. MRI Of Cervical Spine
3. CT Sinus
4. Complete Blood Test
5. Hb1AC Test for diabetes

I should know which type of diabetes is present. If not, the diagnosis should be done.

I should also know what drugs you take for diabetes. I strongly advise you to control the diabetes.

If you would have told me about your diabetes then I would have told you the treatment of diabetes in more detail.

For now, please take care of your diet. If too much pain, can take Ibuprofen 300 mg as when needed. But do not be late. Please do the test as soon as possible.

Please post the test results so that a doctor from healthcaremagic.com can give you next treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
