What Causes Tenderness And Soreness In The Breasts?

I am a 56 year old black female that has recently undergone test. The first set of test showed a positive ana results which prompted my family doctor to refer me to a Rheumatologist. Further test resulted my double strand dna positive. I experience joint pain, tiredness, problems sleeping and have been having issues with breast tenderness which I have been seeing my gynochologist for menopause systems. I have been doing research on my systems and fibromyalgia has some of the same systems. I am just wondering if it is at all possible that this could be what my problem is. I have had ultra sounds of both breast and they came back fine but I m still experiencing some tenderness and soreness and tenderness on my rib cage. Thanks for your help.

Most causes of pain in breast are benign and not serious. There are a number of harmless causes for breast pain and tenderness that may primarily be related to changes in hormone levels. These can include:Menstruation and premenstrual syndrome (PMS), Mastitis, Menopause and Fibrocystic Breast Tissue which is most common. Fibrocystic breasts are not necessarily linked to cancer, and the lumps are fluid filled cysts rather than a mass of cells. However, it is advisable to do breast ultrasound and mammography just to be sure and start regular follow up of possible cysts. In case of redness, fever and progressive pain this may indicate abscess and then it should be surgically drained or evacuated by needle under control of ultrasound.
