What Causes Tenderness And Swelling Under The Chin?

I am experiencing tenderness and swelling under my chin, a dry persistent cough, and hoarseness, and fatigue. I just got over being on antibiotics a week ago after having been treated for a head cold for 2 weeks although my symptoms were more flu-like. The symptoms I am having now has been going on for a week. What course of action do you recommend?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms suggestive of upper respiratory tract infection.

The submental swelling could be an enlarged node or salivary gland. It can be due to a reactive process.

If with an antibiotic you have not been improved clinically than I recommend to investigate with digital chest x-ray and spirometry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami,
