What Causes Tenderness And Weakness In The Legs When Diagnosed With Thyroid Cancer?

Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I had my thyroid removed, and have been put on synthetic thyroid meds. I also have lupus and fibromyalgia. I am noticing some muscle tenderness and weakness in my legs, more than I have in the past. It feels like my legs could give out. I have also been getting bad headaches, and sweating alot.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Well looking into your query there can be many reasons for this kind of symptoms, but still, first and foremost Vitamin B12 deficiency needs to be ruled out.

Serum calcium and vitamin D levels also should be done to see if any deficiency exists and that should be corrected. Plus I will also advise you to start taking a multivitamin tablet.

Rest ideally a neurological examination is warranted to see if there is any kind of sensory loss or other things that are causing the instability. Plus get your sugar levels and BP checked regularly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
