What Causes Tenderness In Breast Of A Nursing Mother?

my fiancé is breastfeeding and having sharp pain in her breast and they are very tender to the touch. She is literally almost in tears if something like her shirt brushes up against her. She says it feels like stabbing pain that goes all the way around her side to her back. She believes she has a blocked Montgomery. She has tried hot compresses and it has not relieved the pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, she may have a galactocele (cyst with collected milk).this will need to drained manually and treated if any Infextion is present. More frequent breast feeding may help empty the breast. Try ice wrapped in a thin towel over the area to help with the pain. She'll need to see her OBGYN if it persists more than 2days or if any fever, redness on breast develops. Hope this helps..
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
