What Causes Tenderness In The Nose After A Septoplasty?

I had a septoplasty operation on Saturday morning. The doctor told me to start gently blowing my nose the day after which I have started to do. However, two days after the surgery my nose is incredibly tender to touch and im beginning to get yellow/green mucus coming out when I blow it. Could this be sign of an infection?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Pain can persist after septoplasty. It may be due to mild inflammation. As of now, you can take an analgesic/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist or in case of signs of infection like redness or pus discharge, you have to consult your ENT specialist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
