What Causes Tenderness, Nausea And Pain After Hernia Surgery?

I have had two hernia surgery s in the past 6 years in the same location lower abdomin. My last surgery was 9/14. Within the last couple of months i have noticed tenderness again, nausua, and sharp pains. I am over weight and I know that this could contribute to the hernias. But, could it be possible that i have another one this soon after last surgery?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, there can be various presentations in this type of situation after twice hernia surgery.

1. Localised inflammation can present with redness, pain and tenderness at the surgical site. Systemic features associated can be low grade to high grade fever, malaise, low appetite and else.

2. Other than local cause, systemic symptoms from acute gastritis can give pain upper abdomen, nausea and tenderness epigastrium (not surgical site ).

3. Internal stretching of structures in form of post operative adhesions do present with pain, surrounding tenderness and nausea as well from the twisting and curling of intestines.

However, a thorough clinical examination is mandatory for all possibilities evaluation and further guidelines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
