Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a tender to the touch spot on the right side of my occipital bone. And it is a bit larger on that side. I also blew green sinus mucus from my nose although I have no other signs of a sinus infection. Could these two issues be related? I have had the tenderness on the right side of the occipital bone before. Nothing on the left side. Thanks! Mary
Tenderness of occiput bone could be due to trauma. Green colored nasal discharge indicates infection with pseudomonas spp. I suggest you to first get culture and drug sensitivity for the nasal mucus followed by clinical assessment of the occiput to know the cause of pain and thus management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
