What Causes Tenderness Under The Rib Cage While Suffering From Elevated Liver Enzymes?

I woke up yesterday with an oval 1 inch by 2inch bruise. My side is tender from that area to under my rib cage. Very tender to the touch. The oval was very red color yesterday today lots of red splotches with a marble blue and greyish. Tenderness is worse today. My Dr. Called me today and said my liver enzyme levels are high. Could this be related?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The liver is involved in the production of substances that play a role in clotting in the body.

If the liver is not working well, it can affect the levels of these clotting chemicals making a person at risk for bleeding.
This would not occur if there is only mild impairment of liver function, only if the abnormalities are significant.

It is possible that this is the reason for the bruise seen but you would need to confirm this with your doctor.
He may suggest blood tests to determine if this is a possibility eg PT, PTT

I hope this helps
