What Causes Terrible Hives After Taking Xolair?
Hi I started taking xolair four months ago to treat chronic idiopathic utricaria. Last month I suffered the first bout of serious depression of my life which put me in the hospital for a week (I am 47 years old). The doctors there put me on Remron for sleep and to treat my depression. Then last week I got my Xolair injection and now I am also having horrible hives again. Can someone please help me figure out what to do. I feel like no one ever looks at my whole system and I just bounce between one crisis to the next.

Remeron contains mirtazapine that belongs to the group of antidepressant medications known as tetracyclic antidepressants is used in the treatment of depression, generalized anxiety disorder, post traumatic stress disorder etc. On the other hand, Xolair shot contains omalizumab that is used in the treatment of moderate to severe persistent asthma and chronic idiopathic urticaria. But using Xolair shot along with Remeron, may cause drug interactions in some cases according to some clinical studies.
The phase lV clinical study analysis based on report of 24 people who take Xolair and Remeron together and have interactions are studied. Common interactions like anaphylactic reaction among women and asthenia among men. So, in some cases, a person may experience allergic reactions like horrible hives after getting Xolair shot when he or she is on Remeron. If you experience such type of anaphylactic reaction after taking Xolair shot while on Remeron, then you should inform your prescribing doctor to avoid any adverse effects in the near future.
