What Causes Terrible Pain In Lower Back After Having Rocephin Injection?
I had a Rocephin injection on September 5, 2014 for Strep Throat and have had TERRIBLE pain in low back at L4-L5, sacrum, coccyx, across the top of the hips and some pain radiating into the top if my right leg. I have tried chiropractic care and massage therapy with only very slight short term (a day or so) relief. I understand back pain after a Rocephin injection is common, but how long should this last?
I am very sorry for your pain dear. Rocephin causes mild degree of pain induration and redness at intramuscular injection site .This is common . But very severe pain with radiation to lower limb is not because of drug.most probably it is because of irritation of near by nerve by drugs or wrong selection of injection site. The intramuscular injection in gluteal region should be given at upper and outer quadrant of gluteal region . If by mistake it is given medial to that can injure sciatic nerve that is main supply of lower limb..as said by you have very sharp pain with radiation to lower limb is very suggestive of some nerve injury.you must consult your doctor for that if your pain persist or increase . Hope this will help.
