Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 40 year old daughter has horrible nightmares almost every night. Her doctor has done lab work on a multitude of things and has found nothing. She does take quetiapine 50 mg nightly at bedtime and has alcohol drinks before bed on many of these nights. Could that possibly be the problem?
Hello dear. Quetiapine is an anti psychotic drug. Some of the antipsychotic drugs have side effects like getting night mares. Moreover all antipsychotic drugs have interaction with alcohol. Ask your daughter to completely quit alcohol. Your doctor has prescribed that drug because he feels that it's side effect outweighs the benefits. Kindlyntell him these night mares so that he can change the drug or add a substitute. with regards Dr Sanjay Kini
