What Causes The Contrast Dye Not Get Close To The Lymph Node In The Lumpectomy?
My 84 year old mother had a lumpectomy earlier this week. When they injected the contrast it did not even get close to the lymph nodes. The surgeon had to tale the first layer of nodes. What would cause the contrast dye not to get close or to the lymph nodes? Thanks
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Lymphatic block could be the cause. 2. Lymphatic block could be due to tumor cells or inflammation. 3. Fine needle aspiration cytology of lymph node or biopsy of lymph node can help in confirmation and further evaluation. Based on test, further opinion possible. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
