Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ate a bagel today and I ended up gagging. After washing it down I feel like a piece of bagel is stuck. If I cough it seems to come up but then I swallow gently and it goes back down. I tried drinking water. Hot tea, ate a rice crispie and even tried to see if I could push it down with my fingers and no use...... What should I do.....?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have feeling of food stuck in throat which is due to granular pharyngitis or upper respiratory tract infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid eating and drinking acidic , spicy and hot food and beverages . Do warm saline gargles. You should take more fibres in diet along with fluids. You should take proper course of antibiotics along with throat lozenges. If condition doesn't get better in 2-3 days then consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and go for swab test. Go for sputum test as well if required and start treatment as per proper diagnosis. Sip warm water after every few minutes.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
