What Causes The Feeling Of Lump In Throat?

I have a lump in the throat sensation. I have been to an ENT who did a scope in the nostril, a barium swallow, and Endoscopy. No reflux has been found or anything else, the ENT said to keep taking Antacid however that has not helped. I dropped the Antacid and have had accupunture a few time which things seem better however after 2 mos. it is still there. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Thanks for writing.

I can understand your concern and will do my best to help you.

It seems that you are suffering from Globus Pharyngeus. If you have undergone all tests and they are notmal as said by you then there is no red flag to worry about.

It is a subjective sensation of a lump in throat without any mechanical or obstructive cause.

In such cases visit to a speech therapist and vocal exercises have shown to be beneficial.
You can also take Pan 40 md once a day empty stomach to reduce GERD that might increase the sensation.

Hope it will be beneficial.

Regards
Dr Manish Jha
