What Causes The Feeling Of Trapped Burps In The Upper Abdomen?

In my upper abdomen area, for several days now I get the feeling of having to burp, almost like something bursting and going back down. I used to have chronic hiccups which were isolated to certain buildings. Since this new thing is starting I have not have the hiccups and the hiccups were an ongoing 2 year issue I was never treated for. PLease advise.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The feeling of fullness is usually due to bloating.

There are different causes of bloating such as:
(1) Use of certain foods such as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, beans, turnips, carbonated drinks
(2) Constipation
(3) GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease)

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
