What Causes The Fingertips To Tingle?

I am a 52 old woman with Type II diabetes and for over a week my fingertips tingles and finges feel tight especially when I try to close my hands in a fist. The fingernails turn red when I close my hands in a fist. I also just recently moved and have lifted heavy objects, and I am not feeling any unusual strains; however just after I started laying laminate flooring (using a hammer almost daily) for over a week that is when I started noticing the tingling, swelling and tightness in my fingers. Also, I was off my Leventhroxine (thyroid meds) for about three weeks; and have been back on the meds for about ten days. Occasionally, my feet and ankles will swell; but my finger tips is constantly tingling with the tighness.

Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.

Mam, tingling and pain feeling of fingertips is one of the main symptoms of diabetes. It is because peripheral neuropathy. Strict control of sugar levels is necessary. Pregabilin and methyl cobalamin could help you. You can discuss regarding this with your treating doctor.

Hope this guides you. For any other queries you can write to me. I will be happy to help you. Thank you.
