pharyngitis, an infection of the pharynx, the inner part of the mouth just before the throat. Your symptoms likely suggest that it is of bacterial origin.
You need a visit to your doctor for a test called
throat culture to confirm that bacteria are responsible for the infection. However, if a visit to the doctor would be difficult, i suggest you get penicillin V tablets or
amoxicillin tablets and take as directed in the instructions.
In the interim, these are tips that would help you reduce the symptoms:
1. Drink plenty of water, swallowing may be painful, but the infected pharynx needs to be hydrated to reduce the irritation.
2. Inhale steam from a bucket of warm water. This helps to reduce the inflammation
3. Gargle with warm salt water for 10 minutes three times daily.
