What Causes The Pain In The Bladder After The Intake Alcohol?
I am 36 year old female. 139 lbs, 5'8" I have noticed for several months that when I consume heavy amounts of alcohol my bladder hurts for several days following the binge. After I drink alot of water and green tea for days following the binge the pain starts to go away. What might be causing this?
Hello and thanks for your question. It's my first priority to help you. Well as you describe, you have a mild case of painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis or pelvic pain syndrome. Spicy food, alcohol and caffeine can exacerbate symptoms. There is a medicine called Elmiron which can help with this. There is also something called Prelief which is over the counter which can help you take prior to drinking alcohol. Still it's recommended to limit your alcohol consumption. Also you should take alcohol with less concentration. You should hydrate yourself with plenty of fluids. Do kegel exercises. Hope this helps.
