What Causes The Skin To Darken From Knee To Ankle?

Hi, My neighbour has been experiencing skin darkening from below her knees down to her ankles. We noticed it getting darker each time but never thought it was anything serious, but now, she s started experiencing pain along the affected areas and has gone off to seek medical attention. What could possibly be the cause of this condition?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

Pigmentation on shin may be of unknown cause or some disease would be responsible for the condition. Consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment. Lichen planus pigmentosus, lichen amyloidosis, ashy dermatosis, vitamin deficiencies, anemia, diabetes mellitus, thyroid diseases and other internal diseases may be detected by thorough examination and investigations. And accordingly, take treatment from the dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilyas Patel, Dermatologist
