What Causes The Traces Of Ketones In Urine Of A Diabetic?

Hi. My recent UA (3 days ago) showed Trace Ketones, Trace Protein, Trace Leuk Est, no glucose. I am a controlled Type I diabetic with 6.0 as my average A1C. Was put on Cipro although the initial UA was inconclusive for kidney inf (having severe pain in kidney area). Violent vomiting after 1 day of taking med, so stopped. What is recommendation for next step?

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear sir/madam
I can understand your concern
in my opinion absolute deficiency of insulin causes keton body generation
it's quite common in type 1 diabetes
when body suffer infection the insulin requirements will increase and due to this there will be slight trace ketons in blood and urine
During infection it's advisable to increase the dose of insulin slightly
I suggest you to speak to your doc regarding increasing dose during sock days.
