Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A family member had a bowel mvt yesterday that blocked up the toilet. Plungers were not effective so I used a drain snake. With great effort I was able to break thru the blockage but it took me almost an hour to clean the plug in the end of the drain snake. The fecal material was thick and had a waxy consistency. It did not dissolve or even soften under very hot water and I had to use a toothbrush to remove as much as possible (but not all) of the waxy material from the drain snake. I have never seen anything like it before. I assume that the toilet drain has a layer of this this substance on its walls that will cause blockages in the future. What kind of digestive disorder could have produced such a substance and what should we do about it?
