What Causes Thick White Odourless Discharge After Having Partial Hysterectomy?
I ve had a partial hysterectomy 5 years ago. A few days ago I noticed a thin clear slippery mucous discharge. That has now changed to a thick white, odorless discharge. Should I be concerned? It s been a few weeks since I ve had intercourse.Thank you.
Hi , I hope you mean Sub-total Hysterectomy. Uterus is removed but cervix is left behind, Cervical secretions will be normally produced as thin watery discharge , They may shed every month as mini- periods. Not to worry about. But if discharge is thick white or yellow or with smell or with itching , better consult a gynecologist, may be infection in cervix . You have to rule out Diabetes or certain infections transmitted during intercourse. Both you & your partner will need medication at a time. If only one is cured , other will infect him/ her next time you have intercourse. Annually screening with PAP smear or Liquid based cytology also is adviced . Hope I have cleared your query All the best Dr.Balakrishnan
