Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Thin Lips And Peeling Of Skin Inside The Mouth?
I recently developed a symptom that I have not had in several years, and, have never brought up to a doctor. Now I am curious if it suggests a condition or infection of some sort. It is hard to express, but, my mouth and inside lips seem to have a thin, mucous that peels away as a matter of course. It is not major, but since it reoccured I am curious about it.
I can understand your concern. Do you have habit of putting candy or tobbaco product or any other substance in your mouth against cheek and lips for long hours? If yes, then the skin peeling is because of that and if you stop the habit, the peeling will stop, too.
However, if you do not have any such habit, the peeling may indicate presence of autoimmune skin condition such as psoriasis or viral infection. It is difficult to advise regarding confirmed diagnosis without clinical examination of the mouth.
Thus, I advise you to visit a dentist for the clinical examination and further investigations, diagnosis and treatment.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
