Hi,
Children with cold, productive cough,
sore throat often have
acute pharyngitis.
It is usually associated with fever, chills, body ache, weakness, fatigue, etc. but may not be in all kids. A few other causes can be
dehydration with
muscle cramps and weakness, gastritis, etc. due to stomach ache, neck pain.
If similar patients come to my clinic, I would recommend salt warm water gargles, drinking warm fluids, steam inhalation, turning on humidifer and heater in the room, over the counter pediatric pain killer medications, etc.
However, it is important to
consult a pediatrician, wherein a physical examination, tests such as blood work, throat swab/culture, etc. may be done and antibiotic medications may be prescribed, if needed based on test reports.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
