Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So lately after I eat something I feel like I have something caught/ stuck in my throat, like mucus. Usually it takes about 30-60 minutes to get my throat to clear, but sometimes it causes me cough and spit up a lot of mucus. I use to smoke and it used to only happen after I d sneak a couple of cigarettes but I ve been smoke free totally for 3 months and it has still been happening
Well, congestion in throat or mucous buildup can be due to a number of causes like the common one is post-nasal drip..
Other common cause might be acid coming up your food pipe. It is known as acid reflux and can cause excessive mucous buildup in throat..
You should consult an Emergency room or a Physician and get checked..
For now avoid spicy and irritant foods. Drink warm water throughout the day.. In case if the mucous is present throughout the day you can take mucolytics containing Ambroxol or Bromohexine..
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora, Dentist
