What Causes Throat Discomfort Along With Breathing Difficulty?

Hello. I am experiencing a feeling in my throat that is hard to explain. It feels like when you are about to cry...that lump in the throat feeling. I do not have an actual lump. Twice this month, I was awakened abruptly in the middle of the night gasping for air. I am not over-weight and do not smoke. I am not on any medications and I am a healthy eater. Very disturbing.

I have read and understood your concern.
Your description of symptoms is not very clear.I wish to find out if you got any swallowing difficulties. I will advise you see the Doctor for a throat exam.Possible causes of throat discomfort may include:pharyngitis, allergic reaction, laryngitis, tonsilitis, thyroid problems like nodule....Just see the Doctor for a complete medical evaluation.In the meantime, i will advise you try the following:
-Regular sips of water
-A steroidal anti-inflammatory drug like prednisolone for some days
-Avoid respiratory irritants like smoke, dust and cold
