What Causes Throat Discomfort In Spite Of Taking Dextromethophan?

I'm getting over a mild flu, but I can't get rid of the tickle in my throat that keeps me coughing. I've tried dextromethorphan, but it didn't help. I'm a 66-year-old caucasion woman who had my flu shot last November. Will this cough go away on its own, or is there something I can do?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain due to throat infection there seems to be irritation in throat leading to cpughing..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can advise you to take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.
You should do warm saline gargles..
Suck throat lozenges and do steam inhalation..
Sip on plenty of warm water throughout the day..
You can continue taking cough expectorant containing Dextromethorphan and Guaifenesin..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
