What Causes Throat Discomfort While Suffering From GERD?
Hi, I have been feeling like I have something stuck in my throat for 2 weeks. I am on Nexium twice a day. This is the third time in a year and a half this has happened. I have seen GI and ENT and they both say it is GERD. I don t agree at this point. Yes I know I have GERD but I don t feel this is the problem. My throat very dry and uncomfortable. I am not choking when I eat or coughing. No other symptoms other than feeling like I swallowed a pill and it got stuck. Esophagus/trachea area all tender to touch. No lumps felt. Been taking Zantac on top of Nexium as well. No change.
Hi Thanks for trusting healthcaremagic for your health issues.
I gone through your history. I also believe these symptoms might be due to GERD. Let me explain. As acid reflexes to the esophagus it erodes the endothelial lining of it. Chronic eroding and inflammation leads to scarring of esophagus. Besides sometimes acid reflex can reach upto pharynx and so the same problem as esophagus. In along with throat problem there are no other symptoms like fever and weakness , problem is due to GERD. I insist you consult gastro and confirm it by endoscopy.
Regards Dr. Hiren
