Hi,

The sensation of a lump in the throat is commonly due to GERD, gastroesophageal reflux disease, esophageal spasms, cricopharyngeal spasms, muscle disorders like polymyositis, myotonic dystrophy, etc.

Continue to take the medications prescribed for thyroid. Get physically examined, get swallowing tests done along with the other tests like esophagography, chest X-ray & manometry of the esophagus. Once the cause if your discomfort is evaluated, you will be treated accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
