What Causes Throat Pain After Discontinuing Pain Killers?
my 20 year old recovering from pill addiction is complaining of a raw throat should I be concerned and what should I look for? he says he has been clean about a month but recently was gone for two days. and he was abusing pain pills by snorting them by the way!
Since you have a history of being a pill addict, once you stop taking the pain medicines you start experiencing pain because pills give relieve by blocking pain & the receptors get the pain signal when the medicine is not taken so the person may experience more pain(withdrawal symptoms).
The pain throat can be treated topically & by warm saline gargles or mouth wash. Take plenty of water, ORS, soups & juice to prevent dryness of throat & discomfort.
Take semi solid food like oats, porridge to avoid irritating the throat mucosa.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
