What Causes Throat Pain Along With Runny Nose And Fever?

Hi Doc, Have a good day! I just want to ask regarding my throat pain,runny nose and cold, fever and it was 3 days i feel this pain.then when i go to our doctor in the office they will give me flutab & Omafen Ibuprofen. so is this advisable for me to take mefenamic acid ?

Hello,

You are having acute pharyngitis infection. For pain take Paracetamol. For congestion relief Cetirizine or Dimenhydrinate like antihistaminic drug prescribed. Cefixime like broad-spectrum antibiotic given if CBC shows high count. Investigate with CBC, ASO titer. Your auscultation also should be done.

If congestion is much more increased (decided by examination) then short-term steroid course given rather than antihistaminic drug. Salt water gargle done 3 times a day. Drink more water.
