I am having some pain when I swallow, it is on my left side but the pain is not in the throat it is under the cheekbone close to the ear the pain only occurs when I swallow. I can touch that area of my face and it is not tender, I cannot feel any swelling on my face. The pain is about a 5 when it occurs and sometimes when I do swallow the pain sometimes extends up toward temple but not always
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your query, you have symptoms of throat pain while swallowing which could be due to upper respiratory tract infection leading to swelling of tonsils. It could be due to gastroesopahgeal reflux as well.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take tablet Sinarest. Do warm saline gargles. Take luke warm water with turmeric dissolved in it. For relief of throat pain, take Calpol.
Your symptoms will start resolving, if symptoms keep on persisting visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Start proper antibiotic course after thorough examination. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

It is an infection of the Eustachian tube between your throat and ears. If it is infected then you will have the same kind of feeling as described.
For this kind of condition, you need to take antibiotics full course to subside the infection first. Take an antibiotic like amoxicillin, levofloxacin, ampicillin, norfloxacin, etcetera full course dosage according to the body weight for 5 to 7 days getting prescription from any practitioner.
If that is subsided then all your symptoms will definitely be cured.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
